Pastor Veryle Henriksen was born on a farm near Clear Lake, Iowa in 1929 and was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended St. Olaf College and graduated in 1952 with majors in History and Religion. He enrolled at Luther Seminary, St. Paul in 1956 after serving in the Korean police action two years and farming for two years. Pastor Henriksen's ministry began as Navy Chaplin on active duty 1959 to 1971. He was then called to Lands-Lincoln Parish in Hoffman, MN. In 1978 he began work as Chaplain for the mentally ill and chemically dependent at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment until retiring in 1991. Pastor Henriksen has been Visitation Pastor at First Lutheran since 1998. Pastor Henriksen and his wife, Peg, have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. His daughter, Kisten, and her husband are also ELCA pastors. |
