Safeguarding

At First Lutheran we recognize children to be a vital part of the Body of Christ. Children are essential to our life of faith and we feel it is our responsibility to keep them safe. To that end, we require every adult who will be in a leadership role with children or youth go through our Safeguarding God's Children training. This includes instruction about recognizing signs of sexual abuse, learning what are acceptable gestures of care, watching for inappropriate behavior and knowing steps to take if the volunteer suspects abuse has occurred. As part of the training, the congregation runs a criminal background check on those volunteers.
