Children's Choir Director

First Lutheran is seeking an energetic musician to lead our two children's choirs.

Position Description:

The Children’s Choir director will be responsible for the rehearsals and performances of our two children’s choirs, Cantorei and Celestial Choir, and be a contributor to the musical growth of all children in the congregation.

Minimum Qualifications:

2-3 years previous experience with church-based music programs; strong musical knowledge

Job Responsibilities:

              1.  Prepare for and direct two youth choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings

                      throughout the school year.

              2.  Participate with choirs in Sunday worship services, festival days and

                      special events as scheduled by the Minister of Music.

              3.  Select appropriate music for the youth choirs in consultation with the Minister

                      of Music.

              4.  Actively recruit new members for the children’s choirs.

              5.  Provide an atmosphere of education in music and in worship for the young

                       singers of our congregation.

              6.  Serve as a consultant to the Board of Education concerning Sunday School

                       musical events.

              7.  Attend monthly meetings of the Board of Worship.

Hours: 

10-15 hours a week, August 15-May 31
